How AskJeevanGuru works, step by step
From your birth details to the words on screen — and which part of that is arithmetic, which part is tradition, and which part is written by AI.
Every reading on this site is produced by three different layers, and they are not equally objective. The first layer is astronomy: it computes where the planets were at your birth moment. The second is traditional Vedic astrology: classical rules read against those computed numbers. The third is an AI language model that explains the first two in plain words. We label all three below so you can see exactly where a statement comes from.
1. Birth date, time and place
You enter the date, the clock time and the birth place. The place is resolved to a latitude, longitude and timezone, because the same clock time in two cities is two different moments in the sky.
2. Astronomical calculation
Those inputs go to a Vedic calculation engine, which computes sidereal positions using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. This step is arithmetic and astronomy — there is no opinion in it, and the same inputs always give the same output.
3. Lagna and the twelve houses
The ascendant (Lagna) is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at that exact moment, and it fixes where the twelve houses begin. Because the Lagna changes roughly every two hours, an accurate birth time matters most at this step.
4. Planetary placements
Each planet is placed in a sign, a house and a degree, with retrograde status and combustion noted. Divisional charts and house lords are derived from the same computed positions.
5. Nakshatra and pada
The Moon's longitude gives the Nakshatra (one of 27 lunar mansions) and its pada. This is a coordinate lookup, not an interpretation.
6. Dasha periods
From the Moon's Nakshatra position the Vimshottari Dasha sequence is computed — the running Mahadasha, Antardasha and their exact start and end dates.
7. Dosha and yoga rules
Classical conditions are checked against the computed chart: Mars in certain houses for Manglik dosha, Saturn's transit over the Moon for Sade Sati, all planets between the Rahu–Ketu axis for Kaal Sarp, and the standard yoga conditions. A rule either matches the computed positions or it does not — and astrologers differ on several of these rules, which we say on the pages where it matters.
8. Traditional meaning of what matched
In traditional Vedic astrology each placement, house lord and running period carries a customary meaning. Only the factors traditionally relevant to your question are used, so a career question is not answered from marriage indicators. This layer is inherited tradition, not measurement — a single placement is not sufficient to conclude anything on its own.
9. AI writes the explanation
The already-computed values and the traditional factors are passed to a language model as facts, with an instruction to interpret only what was supplied and never to invent a planet, house, dasha, transit or date. The AI is a writer and an explainer here — it does not calculate the chart and it cannot verify one.
10. Written in your language
Structural values are always requested in English so a chart fact cannot be mistranslated at source, then the explanation is written in the language you chose. The website and AI answers cover 12 languages; downloadable PDF reports cover 9 of them.

- It cannot compute or verify a placement itself; if the engine did not supply it, the answer must not claim it.
- It cannot give medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice, and it is not an emergency service.
- It cannot replace your own judgment or a qualified professional's assessment.
What we will not claim
We publish no ratings or testimonials we did not receive, and no expert reviewer until an astrologer is genuinely contracted to review the content — if you see a name credited on this site, that person exists. Astrologers also differ on many rules, including dosha interpretation, and we say so on the pages where it matters rather than selling a remedy for it. Results elsewhere may differ slightly from ours; that is usually an ayanamsa or a birth-time difference, not an error in either reading.

Does AskJeevanGuru predict the future?
No. The calculation layer tells you what the sky measurably contained at your birth moment and which traditional period is running now. The explanation layer describes what that is commonly interpreted to mean in traditional Vedic astrology, and how you might reflect on it. It is not a forecast of events, and nothing on the site is presented as certain to happen.
Which part of a reading is calculated and which part is interpretation?
Positions, Lagna, houses, Nakshatra, pada and Dasha dates are calculated — they come from astronomical arithmetic and are the same for the same birth details anywhere. Dosha and yoga conclusions are traditional rules applied to those numbers. The paragraphs you read are AI-generated explanation of both. This page keeps the three separated so you always know which one you are looking at.
Which ayanamsa is used?
The Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard followed by most Indian astrologers and by the Indian civil calendar. We do not override the calculation engine with a different ayanamsa, which is why the same birth details give the same chart on every page of the site. Results elsewhere can differ slightly — that is usually an ayanamsa or a birth-time difference, not an error in either reading.
Why does birth time matter so much?
The ascendant moves through a full sign roughly every two hours, and the house boundaries move with it. A wrong birth time can therefore shift house-based findings while leaving sign and Nakshatra findings largely intact. If you are unsure of the time, treat house-specific statements as provisional and rely more on the Moon-based reading.
