Marriage muhurat — a first filter, not a wedding date
Prepared and maintained by AskJeevanGuru Vedic Research & Editorial Desk.
A day is kept only when its Nakshatra is one of the ten commonly listed for vivah (Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Moola, Uttara Ashadha, Revati), the Tithi is not Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi or Amavasya, and the weekday is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Marriage is the one occasion where this filter is least sufficient on its own — and we would rather say that than sell you a date.
Days ahead that clear the basic vivah filters, with the reason each day passed or failed
New Delhi · 2026-10-22 – 2026-10-25 · 4 days checked
These dates follow the traditional guidance that is commonly published for this occasion. Astrologers and regional traditions differ, and a muhurat chosen for you personally also considers your own birth chart. Treat this as an indicative shortlist and confirm the final date with your priest or family astrologer.
A date is kept only when the day's Nakshatra is one of the ten commonly listed for vivah, the Tithi avoids Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi and Amavasya, and the weekday is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Families usually settle the final lagna with their own priest.
We have panchang data for 4 of the next 30 days for New Delhi, up to 2026-10-25. Later dates are not listed yet — we only show days we have actually checked.
Qualifying dates (0)
No date in this window passes every filter for Marriage (vivah).
Dates left out, and why
Traditionally a fixed ascendant is preferred for this act. The ascendant is not part of the filter above, so the exact hour is still worth confirming with an astrologer.
What this filter deliberately does not do
A real vivah muhurat additionally requires that Venus and Jupiter are not combust, that the period is not Chaturmas or Adhik maas, that the lagna and the seventh house are clean at the chosen moment, and that both charts are considered — including Guna Milan and any dosha discussion the families want. Those exclusions are precisely why so few wedding dates exist in some months. We do not compute them, so a day appearing here can still be unusable.
Why the marriage calendar shrinks so sharply
When Venus or Jupiter is combust, most traditions suspend vivah muhurats entirely, and those periods can run for weeks. Add Chaturmas, Adhik maas and the Nakshatra and Tithi filters, and whole months can have no acceptable date. If your shortlist here is empty, that is usually the calendar, not a fault in the page.
The rules we do apply, in plain terms
Nakshatra: the ten listed above, drawn from the lists Panchangs commonly print for vivah. Tithi: five avoided. Weekday: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with Tuesday and Saturday generally set aside and Sunday treated variously by region. A fixed lagna is preferred for the ceremony itself, which is a clock-time decision, not a date decision.
How to use this before you meet a priest
Use it to eliminate. If a date your family is considering fails the Nakshatra or Tithi test here, that is worth knowing before the venue is booked. If it passes, treat it as a question to ask, not an answer you already have.
Honest limits
Our vivah rule set is unreviewed by a practitioner and the page states that. Only days with cached Panchang data are evaluated, so the horizon is short — we make no annual claims. Nakshatra and Tithi shift within a day, so a passing day is not uniformly favourable.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fix my wedding date from this page?+
No. Combustion of Venus and Jupiter, Chaturmas, Adhik maas and both charts still have to be checked by a practitioner.
Why is my shortlist empty?+
Often because the coming weeks genuinely have no qualifying day, or because our cached Panchang horizon is short. The page reports how many days it could check.
Which Nakshatras are used for vivah?+
Commonly Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Moola, Uttara Ashadha and Revati; lists differ slightly by tradition.
Do you check kundli matching here?+
No. That is a separate step — use the Kundli Matching tool for Guna Milan and Porutham.
Are Tuesday and Saturday weddings forbidden?+
They are generally avoided in the lists we use, but practice varies by region and community.
