Griha Pravesh muhurat — an indicative shortlist, not a final date
Prepared and maintained by AskJeevanGuru Vedic Research & Editorial Desk.
We check each cached day ahead against three traditional filters: the day's Nakshatra must be one of the eight usually listed for entering a new home (Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Anuradha, Chitra, Revati), the Tithi must not be Chaturthi, Navami or Amavasya, and the weekday should be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. A day that clears all three is a candidate — not a verified muhurat.
Days ahead that clear the Griha Pravesh filters, with the reason each day passed or failed
New Delhi · 2026-10-22 – 2026-10-25 · 4 days checked
These dates follow the traditional guidance that is commonly published for this occasion. Astrologers and regional traditions differ, and a muhurat chosen for you personally also considers your own birth chart. Treat this as an indicative shortlist and confirm the final date with your priest or family astrologer.
A date is kept only when the day's Nakshatra is one of the eight usually listed for entering a new home, the Tithi is not Chaturthi, Navami or Amavasya, and the weekday is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. A fixed (sthira) ascendant is traditionally preferred for the entry itself.
We have panchang data for 4 of the next 30 days for New Delhi, up to 2026-10-25. Later dates are not listed yet — we only show days we have actually checked.
Qualifying dates (0)
No date in this window passes every filter for Griha Pravesh (house warming).
Dates left out, and why
Traditionally a fixed ascendant is preferred for this act. The ascendant is not part of the filter above, so the exact hour is still worth confirming with an astrologer.
What this shortlist is and is not
It is a first filter that removes clearly unsuitable days so you arrive at your priest with three or four options instead of a blank calendar. It is not a full muhurat: a complete Griha Pravesh selection also weighs the lagna at the moment of entry, the family's ancestral customs, the month (many families avoid the intercalary Adhik maas and specific solar months), and in some traditions the couple's own charts. Our rule set for this occasion is marked unreviewed by a practitioner, and the page says so on every result.
Why a fixed ascendant is preferred
For the entry itself, a fixed (sthira) lagna — Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius — is traditionally chosen, on the reasoning that stability at the moment of entry suits a home meant to be lived in for years. That choice depends on the exact clock time and your city's coordinates, so it is a decision for the person conducting the ceremony rather than something this page fixes for you.
The three kinds of Griha Pravesh
Tradition distinguishes entering a newly built house (apoorva), re-entering after travel or a long absence (sapoorva), and entering after repair or rebuilding (dwandwah). The Nakshatra and Tithi filters here follow the common lists used for a first entry. If you are moving back into a house you already owned, the rules are usually applied more loosely.
How to use the shortlist practically
Pick two or three candidate days that suit your movers and your family. Take them to your priest and ask only for the lagna window on those dates — a much smaller question than "find me a date", and one that usually gets a faster and cheaper answer.
Limits of the calculation
Only days already in our cached Panchang window are evaluated, so this is a short forward horizon, never an annual calendar. If part of the horizon is not cached, the page says how many days it could actually check. Nakshatra and Tithi change during a day; a day passing the filter does not mean every hour of it qualifies.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use these dates without a priest?+
You can plan around them, but the entry lagna and your family's customs still need someone who knows both. Treat the list as a shortlist.
Which Nakshatras are considered good for Griha Pravesh?+
Commonly Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Anuradha, Chitra and Revati. Lists vary slightly between traditions.
Why are Chaturthi, Navami and Amavasya excluded?+
They are Tithis conventionally avoided for auspicious beginnings. Different families extend or shorten this list.
Do you show dates for the whole year?+
No. We only evaluate days whose Panchang data is already cached, which is a few weeks at most. Anything longer would be invented.
Is Griha Pravesh possible during Adhik maas or Chaturmas?+
Many families avoid those periods entirely. That is a calendar-level rule we do not apply automatically, so check it separately.
