What is Kaal Sarp Dosha and how is it checked in a chart?
Kaal Sarp Yoga is said to form when all seven classical planets — Sun to Saturn — fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis in a birth chart, leaving the other half empty. It is a geometric condition, so it is either present or not: this tool computes every planet's sidereal longitude from your birth details, locates the Rahu–Ketu axis, and reports whether the condition is met, along with the type formed by the axis position.
Astrologers differ on the strictness of this condition and on whether partial cases count. We report the traditional check and the disagreement, and we do not sell dosha removal.
Kaal Sarp Yoga is formed when every planet in your chart sits on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. Astrologers read it as a life that moves in strong chapters: quiet effort for a while, then a clear jump forward.
Nothing about this pattern is frightening. Knowing it is present simply helps you plan with patience.

What Kaal Sarp Yoga is
Rahu and Ketu are always exactly opposite each other, so they divide the chart into two halves. When every one of the seven classical planets sits inside one of those halves, classical texts name the pattern Kaal Sarp. Twelve named types are distinguished by which house Rahu occupies.
Because it depends on a whole-chart arrangement rather than a single placement, it is comparatively uncommon — and it is present for life when it occurs, rather than starting and stopping.
How the check is calculated
The engine computes sidereal longitudes for the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn plus the Rahu–Ketu axis for your exact birth date, time and place. It then tests whether all seven fall in the arc between Rahu and Ketu on one side. Houses are counted from the ascendant, so the named type depends on an accurate birth time.
Borderline charts — a planet within a degree or two of the axis, or one planet just outside it — are exactly where schools disagree. Where a chart is borderline we say so instead of forcing a yes or no.
What the result means
In traditional Vedic astrology the pattern is commonly interpreted as a life that moves in strong chapters: long stretches of effort followed by clear progress, with the effect felt mainly during Rahu and Ketu periods in the Vimshottari Dasha. Outside those windows classical practice expects it to be barely noticeable.
A single pattern is not sufficient to conclude anything about a person's prospects, and many charts described as Kaal Sarp belong to settled, accomplished lives. We will not describe it as a curse, because that framing is not supported and it frightens people for no reason.
Common misconceptions
“Kaal Sarp Dosha ruins a life or a marriage.”
We do not make that claim. Traditional texts describe an intense pattern that is felt in specific Dasha periods, and astrologers disagree about how much weight it deserves at all.
“It must be cancelled at a particular temple, for a fee.”
Nothing removes a chart geometry. Traditional suggestions here are devotional and free; we neither sell nor recommend paid removal.
“Any Rahu–Ketu involvement means Kaal Sarp.”
The condition requires all seven classical planets on one side of the axis. Rahu or Ketu simply being aspected or conjunct a planet is a different matter entirely.
Frequently asked questions
What is Kaal Sarp Yoga?+
Kaal Sarp Yoga is formed when all seven classical planets fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis in your birth chart. Because everything sits between the two nodes, life is read as moving in strong phases — long build-ups followed by sudden progress.
Is Kaal Sarp Dosha really harmful?+
No. Traditional texts describe it as an intense pattern, not a punishment. Many accomplished people have it. In practice it points to patience, delayed results and a strong second half of life rather than misfortune.
How long does its influence last?+
It is present in the chart for life, but it is felt mainly during Rahu and Ketu periods. Outside those Dasha windows most people barely notice it.
What are the common remedies?+
The usual suggestions are simple and devotional: Monday water offerings to Shiva, reciting the Mahamrityunjaya mantra, Rahu–Ketu shanti at a temple, and charity on Saturdays. They are meant to steady the mind, not to buy off a fate.
Can two people both have Kaal Sarp Yoga?+
Yes, and when both charts carry it, astrologers often treat the pattern as mutually understood rather than a problem for the match.
