Pitra Dosha remedies: remembrance, service and nothing to buy
The traditional response to Pitra Dosha is remembrance and service: performing tarpan or shraddha during Pitru Paksha, offering food on Amavasya, feeding crows, dogs and people, giving water to a peepal tree, and caring for living elders. All are free householder practices, and tradition treats care for the living as the first of them.
The remembrance practices
Pitru Paksha, the fortnight before Navratri, is when ancestral remembrance is traditionally performed. Tarpan — offering water with sesame — and a simple shraddha meal offered in the name of departed family members are the core practices. Amavasya, and Mahalaya Amavasya in particular, is the day most commonly kept for it.
Offering a portion of food to crows, dogs and cows, and feeding people, appear in almost every traditional list. Offering water to a peepal tree on Saturdays is another common form. None of this requires payment.
Care for the living comes first
Traditional teaching is direct on this point: attending to living parents and elders takes precedence over rites for the departed. Where a family relationship has broken down, repair or at least respectful contact is treated as the substance of the remedy, with the ritual as its expression.
This is also the honest reading of the ninth house theme. The house signifies lineage and guidance, and the response tradition asks for is participation in that line rather than a transaction.
About paid Pitra Dosha nivaran
Expensive ancestral rites are heavily marketed, frequently with claims about children or illness attached. Those claims are not ours and we will not make them. If a family wishes to have a formal shraddha performed by a priest at a traditional site, that is a personal and cultural choice — but nothing in the tradition makes it the only valid response, and the household practices above are the ordinary ones.
For a view on your own chart, ask the Guru with your birth details. You will get the placements explained and the traditional response described, with no ritual to buy.
A simple monthly routine
A workable shape: on each Amavasya, set aside a portion of cooked food in the name of the departed of both sides of the family before anyone eats, and offer water with black sesame in the morning. Through Pitru Paksha, keep it daily if you can.
Beside it, one act towards the living: a call to an elderly relative, a visit, or help with something practical. Traditional teaching is unusually direct in placing this first, and it is the part of the remedy that nobody can perform on your behalf for a fee.
Where your family already follows a lineage practice for shraddha, that practice takes precedence over any general description, including this one.

Ask the Guru about your own chart
A calculator tells you whether a placement is there. A conversation tells you which cancellations apply to you, what the tradition actually says about it, and what to do next — in plain language, with no ritual to buy.
Ask about Pitra DoshaFrequently asked questions
How is Pitra Dosha traditionally resolved?+
Through remembrance and service: tarpan or shraddha in Pitru Paksha, food offered on Amavasya, feeding crows, dogs and people, and caring for living elders. All are free.
Do I need a priest for Pitra Dosha remedies?+
Not for the household practices described here. A formal shraddha performed by a priest is a cultural choice, not a requirement we would put to anyone.
When is the best time for ancestral remembrance?+
Pitru Paksha, the fortnight before Navratri, and Amavasya days — especially Mahalaya Amavasya — are the times traditionally kept.
What matters most in this remedy set?+
Tradition puts care for living parents and elders first, with the rites as its expression rather than a substitute for it.
