Lagna vs Rashi

Why your 'sign' depends on who is asking.

Your Lagna (Ascendant) is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. It sets up the whole chart and describes your body, personality and approach to life. It changes roughly every two hours.

Your Rashi (Moon sign) is the sign the Moon was in. In Vedic astrology this is the sign used for daily Rashifal, because the Moon represents the mind.

Western 'sun signs' use the Sun's position and a different zodiac (tropical), so your Western sign is often one sign ahead of your Vedic one.

Ask the Guru about your own chart

“What do my Lagna and Rashi say about me?”
